Registered Manager – Children’s Home
Key Responsibilities
- Hold registration with Ofsted and ensure the home operates in full compliance with relevant regulations and quality standards
- Provide strong, visible leadership to the staff team, promoting a positive, child-centred and trauma-informed culture
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, ensuring care plans are implemented effectively and outcomes are improved
- Lead on inspections, audits, and regulatory visits, ensuring the home is always inspection-ready
- Recruit, develop, and retain a skilled and motivated staff team, including supervision, appraisals, and performance management
- Manage rotas, staffing levels, and budgets to ensure safe, consistent care delivery
- Oversee safeguarding procedures, incident management, and reporting, ensuring timely and appropriate action is taken
- Build effective relationships with local authorities, placing social workers, families, and external professionals
- Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping, care planning, and reporting
- Drive continuous improvement, learning from feedback, incidents, and outcomes
- Promote staff wellbeing and manage workload to reduce burnout and turnover
Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
- Experience managing or deputising in a children’s residential setting
- Strong knowledge of children’s residential regulations, safeguarding, and best practice
- Confident leadership style with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
