Team Leader – Children’s Residential Home
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the children’s home
- Provide shift leadership, acting as a positive role model for Support Workers and Senior Support Workers
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times
Lead shifts, ensuring consistent, high-quality care in line with care plans and policies - Support staff with challenging behaviours, incidents, and de-escalation, ensuring learning is shared
- Contribute to staff supervision, mentoring, and on-the-job development
- Ensure accurate record-keeping, incident reporting, and handovers
- Promote a positive, trauma-informed and child-centred culture within the home
- Support rota planning and ensure appropriate staffing levels on shift
- Work collaboratively with external professionals, including social workers and other agencies
- Maintain standards in line with regulatory and safeguarding requirements, including Ofsted expectations
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working in a children’s residential care setting
- Proven ability to lead shifts and support staff effectively
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and residential childcare practices
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards)
Desirable
- Experience supporting complex needs or challenging behaviours
- Confidence supporting audits, inspections, or quality improvement activity
